I just knew I had to do this page when I decided to make this site because these critters are just too cute and sassy to not share them with everyone!! Besides no one really believed us! On some of the pics you will see that I did not fix the red eye and that was so that you could see them. When I took the red eye out your couldn't. These pictures were taken about 10:30pm.

One night my husband and I were sitting on the patio and I heard rustling in the trees and looked up and saw what it was, three baby raccoons making their way down from the top of the trees. So very quickly and quietly we put the dogs in the house and I just sat on the swing and let them come down. My husband went in the house and got me some bread and marshmallows and I just put them on the fence and the babies just came to me.

In some of the pictures you can see that I am on the swing only a couple of feet from them and at one point when I was talking to them one just stopped and looked at me!! I thought oh boy, I'm in trouble now!! But he just sat there and we watched each other. Then after about half an hour or so they just toddled off.  I left some bread on the fence and in the  morning everything was cleaned up.

Every night for over a week, they would come and visit and sit there and chatter at me. I could have sworn they were trying to tell me something!!! It was so neat to have them come that close and not be afraid. But after awhile we didn't see them any more. I hope they made out alright.

The spring of /02 I found babies but they were only about six weeks old and one had gotten hurt somehow and they were wandering around looking for mama and the screeching noises they make is unbelievable, and I had to take one to the humane society and they had to put it down because its back was broken. We don't know how it happened as they were too young yet to be climbing and they weren't very steady on their feet. Haven't seen anything since.

It really was cool to have them come that close and visit. I hope we get some more sometime. Keeps me amused!!! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
